The relationship between creative writing and mental wellbeing is the subject of much debate and is often founded on conjecture and supposition. The aim of this small study was to explore the relationship between creative writing and mental wellbeing, with the cooperation of 14 adults who had all been users of mental health services and were involved in a creative writing group in the community.


Creative writing is good for your well being as it helps to relieve stress and anxiety, is relaxing and can help participants find a sense of peace.


The Independent Study is the culmination of the MA Creative & Critical Writing. Students will write, re-write and edit an extended creative piece, 20,000 to 30,000 words of a novel, or a script or poetry collection or work of creative non-fiction to be agreed by the Programme Leader and supervising tutor.
